Moving Light Technician

Robe Lighting Inc. is accepting resumes for full time Moving Light Technicians in Davie, FL and Las Vegas, NV. The primary objective of this position is to trouble-shoot and service purchased goods; maintain quality control of unsold goods; manage and maintain inventory of spare parts.

Job Requirements:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service on a full range of entertainment lighting fixtures and control interfaces.

  • Visually and physically inspect all purchased products, with a focus on stock repairs, warranty repairs or replacements, and credit returns. Diagnose problems, exercise good judgment with regard to cost-effectiveness of repair solution; replace or repair parts; test and make adjustments.

  • When handling customer-paid repairs, consult with customer regarding estimated costs, recommendations for use and future maintenance. Upon approval, repair and thoroughly re-test, adjusting as necessary.

  • Document and report all issues concerning product performance to service manager in order to avoid recurring issues.

  • Maintain technical bulletins and react accordingly.

  • Oversee spare parts orders by supporting the processing of technician and customer requests for spare parts, ensuring appropriate distribution and tracking for inventory control.

  • Maintain parts inventory; recommend parts lists with the introduction of new product for both inventory, and spares for customer’s inventory / tours; manage parts inventory control paperwork to avoid misclassification of parts; assist with counting of physical inventory bi-annually.

  • Handle customer calls; provide support to customers via telephone and email for spare parts and service. Return customer messages (voice, email or written) within 24 hours of receiving and maintain contact with customer regarding progress updates until issue is satisfactorily resolved.

  • Participate in department-wide training, and cross-training, as needed.

  • Be accountable for and exercise safe and proper use of all necessary tools.

  • Occasional overnight travel required.

Education and/or Experience:

Associate’s degree in electronics, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering.

2-3 years of experience in diagnosing and repair/servicing of DMX-controlled lighting; experience in servicing control systems required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be detail-oriented with exceptional communication, analytical and time-management skills as well as the ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, follow procedures, and maintain accurate records.

Physical Demands:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
