Around 250 Robe moving light fixtures were deployed site wide for the amazing 2013 Tomorrowland EDM festival, staged in the normally sleepy town of Boom, Belgium, which saw 180,000 EDM fans entertained at the fabulous De Schorre National Park site for three days, tuning in and grooving out to the very best dance music on the planet!

This was presented across 14 live stages - a completely stellar DJ line up in a truly magical and highly visual environment designed by Event organisers ID&T under the technical and artistic direction of Jurgen Nuytemans and Christophe Van Den Branden.

The Robes were supplied by several major Belgian rental companies, and production lighting designs for all the stages – mostly hosted by different clubs, people and organisations across the three days of the event - were created by a combination of the best LDs in the country.

The Creative Factory (TCF) provided their mobile visualisation suite on site, which was at the disposal of all guest LDs and operators to programme their shows.

Stage One featured a stunning scenic design in the shape of a massive butterfly – the Tomorrowland logo. Robes used on this stage included LEDWash 600s and LEDWash 300s all concentrated around the DJ booth area.

Stage Two was a tented venue that featured Robe ROBIN 600E Spots, LEDBeam 100s and CityFlex 48 fixtures.

Stage Three was built over the water of the large lake at the centre of the park and lighting included Robe LEDWash 600s.

On the Cafeina Stage – a saddlespan structure also known as the ‘Candy Stage’ for its decoration of giant sweeties – the lighting rig featured a bunch of Robe ROBIN 600E Spots, LEDWash 600s and CityFlex 48 Units.

One of the most popular ‘boutique’ stages on site was the Café D’Anvers, characterised by its Buddha theme, fabulous Indian architectural stage set and dome shaped auditorium. It was also the only stage to retain the same identity throughout the entire festival. Lighting featured more LEDWash 600s, ROBIN 600E Spots and CityFlex 48’s.

The colossal main stage set surpassed all other years in extravagance and visual spectacle, complete with smoking volcano and working waterfalls. This was matched by the phenomenal artist line up which included David Guetta, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Steve Angello, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Tiesto, Avicii, Alesso, Hardwell, Steve Aoki and many more.

Around 35,000 of Tomorrowland’s daily 60,000 population fitted into the substantial natural amphitheatre around the Main Stage and enjoyed the buzz.

Tomorrowland – frequently voted the best festival in Europe and known for its fantastic vibes – sells out in minutes and famous for its opulent design style and attention to detail. The site build takes over a month! A sea of flags denotes its truly international demographic, with tickets sold to fans in over 200 countries across all five continents, and more than 70 planes chartered internationally specially to transport fans worldwide to and from the event.

This year – the ninth edition – was graced with changeable but mostly sunny  weather and sizzlingly hot temperatures throughout in all respects -  action and meteorology!
