The eight MMX Spots were among other lights used by LD Germán Flores - four were positioned on the back truss and four on the mid-stage truss, and they were the main effects and specials fixtures for the show.

“With so many options I could make each song look completely different using the MMX Spots” comments Germán who also operated the lighting, using an Avolites Pearl console.

He explained that he had used Robe fixtures in several other shows before he started working with Catupecu Machu, when he worked for a lighting / sound company with Robe in its rental stock.

“I think Robe is a very reliable brand with a range of excellent products that are full of features.  Whenever I know I’m going to be working with Robe kit I feel really safe and I know I will be able to produce an excellent quality lightshow”, he said.

He’s used Robe’s best-selling ROBIN Pointe as well, and is really impressed with its speed. The ROBIN LEDWash 600 he likes for their overall performance and in particular he thinks that the three LED rings are “Awesome!”.

Robe is one of the constant specifications on the lighting rider requested for Catupecu Machu’s shows. “We do our best to get them on most shows, and I really hope they can be part of our 2014 tour, which together with the new album celebrates the band’s 20th  anniversary”.

Germán started working in the lighting industry aged 18, initially in the warehouse and servicing various fixtures, and from there progressed to being part of the set-up team at rental company Tabia Sound. He then became a technician in the same company, gaining a lot of experience working on different corporate events, social projects and live shows.

Among his career highlights are working as a technician for Latin artist Ricardo Montaner’s 2013 tour.

Recognising the importance of both practical and theoretical knowledge to do well in his profession, Germán finished up the interview saying, “I always want to progress and that’s why I have taken different courses on scenic and theatrical lighting in the past and I do lighting console and other training sessions whenever the opportunities arise”.
