Pointe® Spiider® Spikie® PATT 2013™
Halo – a leading London-based event production company founded and run by Yann Guenancia – has a long relationship with Robe lighting, going back to the early 2000s, when the company first invested in a set of 20 x Robe ColorSpot 1200E ATs.
Back then, event lighting was only just starting to embrace the flexibility offered by moving lights and these Robe products were a bold move by Halo, based on the reliability, punch and dynamics that these fixtures could bring to any environment.
Yann also had the foresight to see how his company could potentially start winning bigger and more technically demanding productions with the Robe lights – state of the art at the time – onboard.
It turned out to be an extremely wise investment, and two decades on, Halo now has 10 different types of Robe fixtures in its inventory.
They can offer anything from precision beam work of the legendary Pointe through to the eye-popping, multi-beam effects of the Spiider LED wash beam and the compact punch of the Spikie.
Each generation of Robe fixtures has brought new context to Halo’s design toolkit, with all the enhanced functionality you would expect – more brightness, sharper optics, smarter control and smaller footprint – and has earned its place in Halo’s fleet just as those original ColorSpot 1200E ATs did, through consistent performance on real events, under serious pressure.
This professional partnership mirrors Halo's own growth.
What started as a handful of fixtures for basic productions has become a central base for how they light everything – from historic venues like Abbey Road to large-scale brand activations and public sector events across London.
As Halo’s ambitions and success have scaled, so has Robe's technology.
Abbey Road
When producing events inside one of the world's most iconic recording studios, lighting has to earn its place in the room, and Robe’s Pointe and PATT family are both regulars for Halo’s work at Abbey Road Studios.
They bring something different to the table and together facilitate lighting everything from broadcast-scale conferences to intimate private parties … without compromising the character of the venue.
Robe Pointe: precision lighting for high-profile productions
With the Pointe being a hybrid beam, spot, wash and FX fixture, its versatility earns repeat bookings for Halo’s most complex Abbey Road briefs, including the ICC Hall of Fame ceremony and the Mastercard and Dynamic Yield conferences.
With a 280W discharge light source, a 20-degree zoom range and rotating or static glass gobo projection, LDs have plenty of scope to shift between a tight, punchy aerial beam and a
broader wash without swapping fixtures mid-show. The Pointe’s output is close to 9,870 lumens, so it holds its own even in a room full of camera crews and branded signage.
For filmed or streamed corporate productions where clarity matters every second, the Pointe's sharp parallel beam cuts cleanly through haze and across video surfaces, reading brilliantly on camera as well as in the actual room. This is vital when a high-profile client like Mastercard is filming content for their own channels in parallel with the live event.
Robe PATT: retro styling that respects Abbey Road's heritage
Where the Pointe handles the technical heavy lifting, Robe’s elegant, retro-looking PATT family looks perfect and just right in a space with the history of Abbey Road or anywhere else.
Inspired by vintage broadcast luminaires, the PATT 2013 and its siblings are built with sleek, spun aluminium bodies exuding a warm, tungsten-style glow, and this is a design language that sits comfortably in a space where the walls are lined with 90+ years of music history.
What makes both fixtures ideal for Halo as a production company is their range.
Pointes allow for scaling up to full conference productions with hundreds of attendees, complete with sharp gobo branding on the walls, and camera-ready beam work for a client like Mastercard.
Utilising PATTs, the looks can be dialled right back for private events or intimate brand experiences, used to create atmosphere and scenic detail rather than spectacle.
That range – from ICC Hall of Fame-scale corporate productions down to private celebrations in one of Abbey Road's smaller rooms – keeps both fixtures in Halo’s kit list.
The lighting design can be effortlessly matched to the occasion without ever fighting the character and integrity of the venue itself.
