Free Power Eventtechnik has been the technical supplier for the festival's Sony PlayStation Stage for the last few years, and this year, Robe moving lights were at the core of Hansjörg Liechty's design. This had to be multi-purpose and flexible, giving plenty of options enabling each band to have its own specific look.
Headliners included Ash, The Sounds, The Klaxons and Swiss soul and pop superstar, Stefanie Heinzmann.
The lighting rig included 10 ROBE ColorSpot 700E ATs and 12 ROBE ColorWash 700E ATs, chosen for their power, brightness, versatility and extreme reliability, particularly in festival situations.
Two ColorSpot 700E ATs and 8 ColorWash 700E ATs were positioned on the back truss. On the floor, on 4 vertical 'finger' trusses were 8 ColorSpot 700E ATs, with the remaining 4 ColorWash 700E ATs hung on the front truss and utilised for general front light and stage washing.
The Robes were the main workhorses of the rig, used for numerous effects, beam work and strong back-lighting as well as the stage illumination, and complemented by PAR 64s, 4-lite blinders, strobes, profiles and fresnels, all programmed and run from an MA Lighting grandMA2 light console.
For special projections during Stefanie Heinzmann's set, two ROBE DigitalSpots 7000DTs were positioned on the floor, on flightcases left and right on the stage, beaming onto 2 white 3 x 4 metre upstage screens. Content from the DigitalSpot's extensive onboard library was utilised, along with animations and Stefanie Heinzmann logos.
The units were run via the grandMA light, and the decision to use them was made just two hours before she went onstage, proving just how fast and easy they are to programme. Hansjörg Liechty was also very impressed with their brightness.
Free Power Eventtechnik lighting crew for the 4 day event were Diego Holzer and Roger Bregy.
