Robe For Noemi's Tour

Robe moving lights were chosen for the tour by leading lighting designer, Massimo Tomasino, who used 12 Robe ColorSpot 700E AT as the main fixtures of the rig.

The lighting equipment was supplied by Rome based Omega Service. The ColorSpots were positioned upstage on two rows of trussing and used for powerful back lighting and to create many stunning effects.

Tomasino states, "I chose the ColorSpot 700E AT because I think that there is no other product to beat Robe in terms of reliability right now".

He points out that touring work is always highly pressured, so it's vital to have all the kit fully functional all the time, even after many hours of continuous work and being bumped around during long road journeys.

"The brightness is easily comparable to any 1200W lightsource on the market," he says of the 700, adding that the lights allow him plenty of creative flexibility whatever the shape and size of the stage they are playing. "Brightness and versatility are key elements of this wonderful product".

In terms of effects, he took advantage of the different rates of movement, colour and gobo-changing, enabling him to compose scenes that were constantly fluid and in motion. "Due to Robe's internal mechanics, it's possible to make the gobo rotation very slow, subtle and almost imperceptible, which is ideal for making backgrounds and wonderful atmospheres," he explains. “Conversely, the very fast movements really jazzed up the proceedings making a nice contrast".

He likes the colours and hues - bright, light and dark - that can be created and uses colour a lot in his interpretation of the songs, drawing the audience into the emotion and feel of the song with careful lighting.

Tomasino concludes: "The Robe ColorSpot 700E AT is currently my favourite and most used moving light!"

The ColorSpots plus all the other lights on the rig were controlled via a grandMA light 2 console.
